WJES Named John W. Harris Leadership Award Winner

West Jackson Elementary School has been named a John W. Harris Leadership Award Winner by National Beta, the organization announced Wednesday. The award, named in recognition of Beta's Founder, John Harris, celebrates clubs that exemplify Beta's four pillars of achievement, character, leadership and service.

West Jackson Elementary is one of just five elementary schools throughout the nation, and the only elementary school in the state, to earn the leadership award.

Beta Clubs were nominated by their sponsor through an online application and evaluated by the Alumni Review Committee.  From an impressive pool of nominations, the committee selected the top five clubs in each division based on their demonstrated impact within their schools and communities.

Award-winning clubs will receive the opportunity to send ten free members to the Regional Leadership Summit of their choice the following year, where students will further develop their communication, collaboration, and leadership skills alongside peers from across the country.
